Knitted Toys by Jean Greenhowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I don't remember how, but I acquired some photocopied pages of the dress up dolls in childhood that I really tried hard to make, but I couldn't understand the instructions at all. Then, after I got super into knitting as an adult, but had long since lost the photocopied pages, I ran into a copy of this book at a charity shop and after sitting on it for about a month, decided to make one of every of my favourite characters from fandoms, anime, and my own stories, each with changeable clothes, capable of dressing up as each other since they all have the same sized bodies. Expensive monthly knitting magazines that sometimes have nice dolls don't even compare to this timeless classic. One of the objects I would grab in that hypothetical situation where there's a fire, where all people and pets are evacuated safely, and you have time to grab a handful of things on your way out. I certainly can't carry all the things I've made, but hopefully it would be fun to make them all over again if I lost them.
